Synopsis
It is towards the end of World War II. After invading an island in the Philippines, Japanese servicemen meet fierce counter-offensive from the locals and the allied forces. It’s just a matter of time before the few survivors are wiped out.

Based on the 1951 eponymous novel by Ooka Shohei, Fires on the Plains explores the cruel acts of the Japanese Imperial Army’s soldiers engaged in the last days of WWII in the Philippines. A nightmarish descent into a hellish jungle, in which war has replaced reason for evil delirium.
