Freak Orlando
1981
Synopsis
Orlando lives from the Middle Ages to the present, adopting different guises and aliases across time. Touring entertainer in one moment and miraculous two-headed child in the next, Orlando is accompanied by fellow shapeshifters on an eventful path to the Festival of Ugliness.
Editorial
Icons of cinema Delphine Seyrig and Magdalena Montezuma star in this wildly loose and freaky Virginia Woolf adaptation. Twirling visions of new, decadent glamor from worshipping rituals, sex, and commerce, director Ulrike Ottinger frolics in Orlando’s transhistorical sprawl with outrageous glee.
