Robinson's Place
Du côté de Robinson
1963
Synopsis
Daniel and Jackson, two penniless young men, meet up to pick up girls. In the streets of Montmartre, they approach a woman and decide to accompany her to a dance hall—but once there, she ends up dancing with another guy. Furious, they take their revenge in the pettiest way.
Editorial
Petty-minded lads, crass chit-chat at the pinball machine, sleazy one-liners: this indecent crawl through Montmartre makes the zip and effervescence of French New Wave contemporaries look naïve. With singular push-pull charm, director Jean Eustache exposes the desultory side of ’60s café culture.
