The Great Silence
Synopsis
Utah, 1898. Bounty killers hound a small community into the mountains. When their cruel leader, Loco, murders Pauline’s refugee husband, the widow hires a mute gunman named Silence to lead the townspeople in revenge. But as the men face off, the line between right and wrong grows harder to make out.
Editorial
The dignity of silence is cold comfort in Sergio Corbucci’s unsentimental, snow-pelted revenge saga, starring a chilling Klaus Kinski. Thick furs and the deep swells of Ennio Morricone’s gorgeous score are sources of warmth, but no defence against heavy gunfire in this pitiless revisionist western.
