In abstract space, a double-cone spins, revealing layers of circles and commencing a non-linear journey into the past, present, and future of Indigenous people. As orchestral music plays, the circles open up spaces for historical incidents—including the Indian Relocation Act and Wounded Knee.

Abstract animations are punctuated by glimpses of video in this shapeshifting short from Oglála Lakȟóta artist Kite. Structured according to her grandfather’s teachings, Pahá kiŋ lená wakháŋ uses its gentle pace and mesmerizing imagery to probe the complex relationship between truth and belief.
