Synopsis
In Inner Mongolia, Tuya takes care of her two children and her paralysed husband, collects the water, and minds the flock of sheep that is their livelihood. The unending toil begins to show on their health however, and Tuya faces the question of how to continue to provide for the family’s existence.

Following the epic odyssey of a proud, tenacious woman, Chinese director Wang Quan’an strikingly portrays the barren landscapes, colorful costumes, and nomadic lifestyle of the shepherds of inner Mongolia. This breathtaking ode to a disappearing culture won the prestigious Golden Bear at Berlin.
